![]() ![]() I wish the devs had been given the time to fully flesh out all of the mechanics that it appears they wanted to include, but I had a ton of fun. These are all just strange things that bog down an otherwise great, but short, experience. You can miss can collectables there, and you must replay the entire game if you want to collect them. Pikuniku is an absurdly wonderful puzzle-exploration game that takes place in a strange but playful world where not everything is as happy as it seems. Minigames are featured throughout, but are bizarrely un-replayable. There's an empty secret area and way more slots in your inventory than there are collectables. Coins appear throughout the world, but there are only three things that you can buy, and I had all the money I needed the first time I found the shop. From what I can find, the item appears to be useless. You can get a postcard, and there's mailboxes all around, but you cannot mail it. ![]() However, the game is rather short, taking around 3 hours, but that's not the only thing that makes this experience feel like it isn't complete. During the more intense platforming challenges, I never felt that they were too easy or too hard. ![]() The world and story consistently made me smile. I love all the equipable items and hats, and the platforming challenges are a blast. The writing is funny, the character designs are adorable, and the gameplay is engaging and fun. it's definitely a good experience, and some could absolutely fall in love with the game, but if you're deciding between playing pikuniku or another game, i would recommend that you choose the other game instead.ģh PlayedReally cute game that feels somewhat incomplete. overall, it isn't something you should go out of your way to play. it doesn't feel like it would have done anything more if it had more time, it would have only repeated itself. the game is short, which, for something like this, is not unwelcomed. the inventory system as a whole wasn't crucial, the game could have gone with a different system and been just as good. Summary: Pikuniku is a puzzle-exploration game that takes place in a strange but playful world where not everything is as happy as it seems. some don't even have a purpose that i could find, like the flower hat. most hats in the game feel useless, for example there's a pencil hat, which is used once in the entire game, and is simply a cosmetic afterwards. in almost any other game i would critique this, but it's okay here. it's passable, but only because the story is a comedy. it doesn't hide its meaning behind language, it just says it. level design ebbs and flows at some times it's clever or quick to introduce new mechanics, at others it's very unclear, giving only the most subtle of clues. the colours are awfully bright, playing at night will give you the real flashbang experience. things about the game: artstyle is nice to look at, it is very simple, but it gives off a comfortable sensation. reviewed on the singleplayer/adventure mode, which is much more narrative focused. 2h 57m Playedcompletely fine short platformer game. ![]()
